Upgrading to Oracle Commerce 11.2

The latest release of Oracle Commerce includes innovative new features and capabilities with a strong emphasis on customer engagement, helping brands deliver relevant, personal and consistent experiences across all touch points. New simplified business user tools help to optimize customer experiences, and a focus on IT engagement ensures flexible and extensible architecture to help brands plan for the future.

Important improvements to Oracle Commerce 11.2 include:

Omni-Channel Experience Delivery

Oracle Commerce 11.2 introduces significant improvements to better support omni-channel commerce. The new Commerce Store Accelerator (CSA) single-page application provides business users with a responsive starter store to help merchants in creating their storefront as well as supporting desktop, tablet and mobile devices. 

Enhanced Control for Business Users

New functionality was added allowing business users to more easily manage the commerce site – without relying on other teams, such as IT. Users can now respond quickly and with less risk of error to external events. 

Experience Manager introduces the concept of projects and workflow, allowing business users to group changes together. These groups can then be managed, previewed and deployed to production s a group, thereby eliminating the risk of including other users' changes.

Version 11.2 picks up where Commerce 11.0 and Commerce 11.1 left off, by continuing to add new content management capabilities. Media files can now be directly uploaded within the BCC and then stored on the Commerce servers, without any external systems, allowing merchants to manage all of their content and commerce in a single application.

True Omni-Channel Commerce

To better support the overarching focus on omni-channel commerce, new features have been added to address the use of Oracle Commerce in traditional channels. For instance, support for fractional units of measure allow Commerce to support the sale of items that are sold by weight or length (ie. groceries). Additionally, enhancements to the promotion engine allow business users to create promotions based on tender type, such as cash or store-branded credit cards.

Updates to the pricing engine mean business users can now set up multiple prices ahead of time, with designated start and end times. This allows for easier management of promotional strategies like limited time offers and flash sales.

Platform Total Cost of Ownership and Integrations

Oracle Commerce 11.2 provides a framework for integrating an external product configurator into the Commerce solution. This is a key element in providing a seamless customer experience for consumers shopping for complex, configurable products such as a computer, etc. Using the reference integration between Commerce and Oracle CPQ Cloud allows users to address both B2B and B2C configuration cases.
